Context
In 2012, XP was awarded a 15-year Production Enhancement Contract (PEC) with OMV Petrom to revitalize mature oil and gas fields in Romania.
The project included:

13 oil&gas fields

672 active wells
Challenges
The fields were characterized by:
- Depleted reservoirs
- Historical formation damage
- Increasing water production
- High OPEX
- Corrosion, H₂S and scale deposits
- Significant associated gas losses
XP’s approach
XP invested over 50 million USD and deployed an integrated strategy including people, processes, data & technology based on:
Data - Driven Decisions
- 3D seismic acquisition, PLTs and modern well logging
- Creation of new reservoir models
- Real-time monitoring and automation of surface facilities
Reservoir & Well Optimization
- Introduction of new design of hydraulic fracturing
- Custom designed high-temperature ESP pump to offload water in deep gas wells.
- Drilled 2 new wells in previously unpraised area
- Around 275 workovers and more than 2,500 well interventions
- Complete Artificial lift system redesign and upgrade
Infrastructure Modernization
- Built a Gas-to-Power plant to monetize flared associated gas
- Modernization of 28 production surface facilities
- Automation and process optimization
